Intern Bar in New York Summer 2012
NY's first and original bar series for NY's summer interns
Kids these days! They may not know how to write in cursive, but they do know how to bet on their futures. The Wall Street Journal tells the story today of two recent college graduates who founded Ultrinsic.com, a site that allows college kids to bet on their grades. Last year, 600 students at two colleges wagered; this year, more than 1,000 new users have signed up to try their luck. Intern Bar members can try their luck too, register here
Jeremy Gelbart and Steven Wolf, both Queens College grads, started the site as a way to motivate students to do better in school: “It would be great if everyone was intrinsically motivated to get good grades, but that's, like, not reality,” Gelbart said. The worse a student’s grades normally are, the more money he can make by getting an A: “the site runs an algorithm based on his GPA and the course grading history,” -Vanity Fair
